KIMBA THE WHITE LION MOVIE SCRIPT Part 2

INT. SHIP CARGO AREA – DAY
Music fades out. The next morning inside the cargo area, it is fairly quiet, the only audible sound is the crashing of waves outside, which seem to have calmed down. Kimba yawns and stretches inside his cage, before taking a closer look at his surroundings. There is a window behind a pile of crates in one corner of the room which appears to be where the light is coming from. Just behind Speedy’s cage is a door leading to the rest of the ship.
Just as Kimba is looking at the door, it swings open and a man dressed in a uniform walks in carrying 2 pieces of meat. He throws one to Speedy and one to Kimba, however Kimba’s piece lands just outside his cage, and Speedy reaches out his paw and grabs it. The man walks off seeming not to notice.

KIMBA
Hey, you can’t do that! That’s not right!

SPEEDY
Don’t you tell me what’s right, furball!

KIMBA
I don’t want to fight with you, we should be friends! My name’s Kimba.

SPEEDY
Yeah right, you just want the food back.

KIMBA
No, really!

SPEEDY
Whatever. I’m Speedy, and if you don’t shut up now I’ll give you a present you won’t forget!

Speedy growls at Kimba. Kimba just sighs and lays down. Cut to show the ship still pushing on through the waves. Fade back to Kimba and Speedys’ room again. A clanging sound can be heard as Speedy tries to break out of his cage.

KIMBA
What are you doing?

SPEEDY
Breaking out, stupid!

KIMBA
Why don’t you try clawing at the lock?

SPEEDY
Don’t tell me what to do!

Speedy pauses for a moment.

SPEEDY
What’s a lock?

Kimba smiles.

KIMBA
See that thick metal thing with a hole in it? Try and scratch at that hole, it’ll let you out. My father taught me.

Speedy picks at the lock with one of his claws, after a few seconds, it breaks open and the cage door swings open. Suddenly, the sound of footsteps approaching can be heard.

SPEEDY
Uh oh…

KIMBA
Quick, go back to your cage! They’ll think it broke on its own!

SPEEDY
No way, I’m breaking out and no pussycat is stopping me!
The door near Speedy swings open and two armed men walk in. They panic at the sight of Speedy.

MAN 1
The cheetah cub’s escaped!

MAN 2
It’s too dangerous to handle it.

MAN 1
Don’t be stupid, it’s just a –

Speedy growls menacingly at the two men, his fur standing on end.

MAN 1
It’s hostile, be ready.

Both men pick up their guns and aim them at Speedy. Speedy jumps at them and both men fire. Kimba quickly squeezes out between the bars of his cage and dives to save Speedy. Both of them just get to safety. Kimba then jumps at the two men, knocking away their weapons and growling and chasing them away. He then turns to see if Speedy is okay. Speedy looks up at Kimba surprised.

SPEEDY
You – you saved my life. Why’d you do that?

KIMBA
Because that’s what friends do, they help each other!

Kimba offers his paw to Speedy and helps the cheetah cub to his feet. Speedy smiles.

SPEEDY
Maybe you’re not SO bad after all.

Kimba smiles back.

KIMBA
We do still have a ship to escape from though. And there’s probably more humans coming, so let’s get a move on.

Both of them run out the door into a narrow corridor, with bright light at one end. Spy music but with African instruments plays. Kimba and Speedy cautiously look both ways.

KIMBA
Alright, there’s light this way, follow me!

Kimba runs down the corridor towards the light, with Speedy following close behind. When they get to the end of the tunnel, they see 5 more men with uniforms.

KIMBA
More humans, stay down!

Speedy hides close to the ground in a corner. Kimba jumps around the guards nimbly, confusing them and making them fire at nothing, he then grabs the guns of 4 of them and chases them away. The fifth guard points his gun at Kimba but is knocked over and drops his gun when Speedy tackles him.

KIMBA
*laughs*
I thought I told you to stay down?

SPEEDY
Friends never listen to each other right?

KIMBA
*smiles*
Right!

Both of them jump out onto the deck of the ship, jumping around nimbly and avoiding guards, who run into piles of crates confused and knock them over. Kimba and Speedy get to the back of the ship and look over the edge. Speedy looks over at Kimba questioningly.

SPEEDY
Now what?

KIMBA
We jump!

SPEEDY
But how do we know which way to go?

KIMBA
Well, the ship is moving that way.

Kimba points to the front end of the ship, before looking back at Speedy.

KIMBA
Which means this is the back, so if we jump off here and keep swimming forwards, we’ll be back home in no time!

SPEEDY
Wow, you’re really smart!

KIMBA
So you gonna jump or what?

SPEEDY
Catch me if you can!

Speedy dives into the water, followed by Kimba. They both giggle when they land. A group of guards stare angrily over the edge of the ship at the two cubs before walking off. The ship gradually drifts away, and Kimba and Speedy start swimming for the shore.
